Sustainability and Ethics

  1.  Sustainability

Sustainability is important to Fem-Boii. We’re getting greener every step of the way, while still providing you the quality products you deserve.

Around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry end up in landfills, making it a major contributor to environmental damage. What’s more, one in every five items produced by the fashion industry reach landfills without being worn even once.

As Fem-Boii works with on-demand suppliers, we only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewaters and uses less energy than standard industry printers.

Information about the production of the products

Each product you see in our catalog is made on-demand—once you place an order, we produce it specifically for you. This allows us to avoid overproduction and textile waste, and we’re continuously working toward greener production.

Did you know that each of our garments is made just for you? We only print apparel when we receive your order for it, avoiding textile waste. So forget about mass-produced clothing and let us create your quality unique one-offs!

Information about printing tech and materials

Our clothing is printed with the direct-to-garment (DTG) printing method. The printing tech we use is made with sustainability in mind, and our Kornit printers use almost zero wastewater and less energy than standard industry printers, lowering our carbon footprint.

The inks we use for printing are vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals. Fem-Boii takes sustainability seriously, that’s why we take care to dispose of any left-over ink according to the ink supplier guidelines.

Statement about production times

Each product you see in our catalog is made on-demand, which means once you place the order, we start working to get it to you. It takes time for us to create and send out the product, but making each order on-demand allows us to avoid overproduction. This way we get to take care of you, and the planet we all share.

Plastic use

As of May 2021, we started using packaging made of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics. PCR plastics are made from items people recycle every day, like plastic bags and bottles. Most of our PCR plastics are made from shopping bags and wrapping films.

We use PCR plastic packaging for all apparel orders shipped from our in-house facilities. The amount of PCR in the packaging differs for each location, but it’s at least 50% for the outside (white or grey) poly mailer bags, and at least 30% for the inside (clear) bags that are used in multi-item shipments.

PCR packaging protects the products just as well as the virgin plastic bags, and they look almost the same. However, choosing PCR over virgin plastics minimizes the environmental impact plastic has on our planet.

We know there’s still a lot to do to reduce our packaging footprint, and we’ll keep exploring greener options in the future.

Efficient shipping

Around 81% of one of our partners orders are delivered in the same region they’re fulfilled. Having fulfillment centers close to our customers is good both for the business and the planet. Strategically located fulfillment centers allow for faster shipping times and lower shipping costs, and it also helps with reducing the CO₂ emissions produced when transporting orders.

Employee fair treatment and the people who make the product within the supply chain

Discrimination is not accepted. Our partners are an equal opportunity workplace and our hiring and employment decisions, including those relating to compensation, benefits, promotions, training and development, discipline, and termination, are made solely on the basis of skills and performance, not on race, color, religion, ancestry, sex, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or other characteristics.

One of our partners aims to be as transparent as possible, and  are committed to ensuring ethical and fair-labor practices within their own operations and we seek and expect our suppliers to do the same.

Under every product we can find a Source tab, which provides information about each item's manufacturer and country of origin. Every eco-friendly product also has downloadable certificates—such as GOTS and OEKO-TEX—linked in the Description tab.
